# Skills

> Ready-made know-how you can add to any agent, or write once and reuse.

A skill is a block of instructions an agent can draw on: how to handle complaints, how to protect personal data, how to reconcile a mobile money payment. Write it once and add it to every agent that needs it.

Add skills from the agent's **Build** tab → **Skills** → **+**.

## Skills Jengo ships

Under **Pre-installed**, choose a skill to read **What it adds** and **Instructions it adds**, then click **Add to agent**. A few examples:

| Category | Skills |
| - | - |
| Support | Complaint intake, Multilingual replies |
| Compliance | PII minimisation, Data subject requests, No automated adverse decisions |
| Payments | Mobile money support, Payment reconciliation |
| KYC & onboarding | KYC review, Dossier intake discipline |
| Data & tools | Tool discipline, Document Intelligence |

Built-in skills are read-only. To adapt one, click **Fork to customize**: you get an editable copy your organization owns.

## Write your own

Choose **Custom skill**, then start **From scratch**, from a template (**Tone & style**, **Escalation policy**, **API workflow**, **Domain rules**), or **Import SKILL.md**.

| Field | What to put |
| - | - |
| **Name** and description | What the skill is for, so colleagues find it. |
| **Scope** | **Workspace**: everyone can use it. **Restricted**: only you and admins. |
| **Tags** | To find it later. |
| Instructions | The skill itself, in plain words or Markdown. **Improve** rewrites it more clearly. |

Your skills stay private to your organization and appear under **Your library**.

## Versions

An agent using one of your skills follows **Latest** by default, so edits apply straight away. To freeze an agent on a version while you rework a skill, pin it to that version (owners, admins and managers).
