# Tools and integrations

> Let your agent act: connect services, add built-in tools, or build your own actions.

An agent answers from its knowledge, and **acts** through tools: sending an email, looking up an order, refunding a payment. You give it tools from the agent's **Build** tab → **Tools** → **Add connection**.

## Integrations

Integrations connect services your organization already uses: **Communication** (Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Twilio…), **Finance** (Stripe, Shopify, Flutterwave…), **Productivity** (Google Drive, Sheets, Calendar, HubSpot, Salesforce, Jira…), **Analytics**, **Developer** and **Access and security**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect the service once">
    In **Add connection**, pick the service and click **Connect workspace**. Sign in to the service and approve access. You can also do this from **Integrations** in the menu.

    Twilio and ONECI ask for their own keys instead (for Twilio: **Account SID** and **Auth Token**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add it to the agent">
    Back in **Add connection**, click **Add to agent**. The agent can now use the service's actions, listed under **Available tools**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose what it may do">
    In **Integrations**, open the connected service to see its **App permissions** and switch individual actions on or off. **Reconnect** refreshes access; **Remove Access** disconnects it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A service is connected once per workspace, then added to each agent that needs it.
</Note>

## Actions

An action calls an API of your choice. In **Add connection** → **Action**, **Start from a template**:

* **Payment templates**: Paystack, Flutterwave, M-Pesa, MTN MoMo and Orange Money.
* **Build from scratch**: connect any API or service. Give it a **Name**, a **Description** the agent reads to decide when to use it, the **URL**, **Method**, **Auth** and the **Input fields** the agent fills in.
* **Write code**: a multi-step action in JavaScript, with **Who can trigger this** (**AI only**, **Requires human**, **Admins** or **Managers**).
* **From the Store**: ready-made actions such as **Refund a Stripe Charge**, **Post to Slack** or **Send SMS (Twilio)**.

<Tip>
  Before saving, open **Test** → **Try it** and click **Run**. You see whether it **Worked** or **Failed**, and exactly what the agent will see.
</Tip>

## Built-in tools

No connection needed. In **Add connection** → **Built-in**, click **Add to agent**:

* **Document Classifier**: recognises the type of a document a customer sends.
* **National ID Verifier**: checks a national ID document.

## Helpdesks

Let the agent answer inside your own helpdesk as a teammate. **Intercom** is available; see [Connect Intercom](/grio-cx/connect-intercom).
